This weekend, I was able to attend the Marquette men’s basketball game v. Butler for National Marquette Day! It was really great to be able to watch the game live, especially on such a fun day! Fiserv Forum was packed with current students, parents, alumni and local Milwaukee natives.
At the game, Marcus Lemonis was recognized for his commitment of $15 million for the future student center for success. This student center will take the place of the old engineering building, and will be a great resource for students regarding mental health services, career advice, and much more. The Lemonis center will be in the middle of campus, making it highly accessible for all students. I am looking forward to seeing this initiative come to life!
The game began with the starting five: Kolek, Kuath, Lewis, Morsell and Jones. Jones opened with a three point shot, quickly putting Marquette in the lead. The first half ended with Butler leading 33-30- but Marquette wasn’t done fighting!
Justin Lewis quickly opened the second half with a reverse layup from Tyler Kolek, putting the Golden Eagles ahead at the top. Marquette quickly took the lead and Lewis continued to dominate the court.
At this point in the game, Fiserv was filled with amazing energy- giving the Golden Eagles the extra push they needed to win the game 64-56!
Overall, it was really amazing to be able to live tweet this event, as it is not something I have ever done before. I wish I could have tweeted more throughout the game, but found myself so focused and in the moment. When I thought to tweet something- the play was long over and it seemed irrelevant to tweet at that point. Moving forward I know what adjustments I need to make when live tweeting another game in the future.
