Nike: Brand Social Media Presence #JustDoIt

Coming into this blog post, I was immediately inclined to highlight Nike after doing a deep dive into their social media presence. Nike is a brand we all know- with over 93.3 million Instagram followers, 7.95 million Twitter followers, 33.3 million Facebook followers, and a ton of engagement across all platforms. It is no doubt that this brand is one of the best out on social media.


Nike has always had a focus for their people. Rather than selling their brand through their product, they focus on the human element and storytelling.


Instagram is the platform they utilize the most with daily postings of their athletes in motion, video content and a lot more. When you get to their page, you can tell within a couple of seconds what kind of brand they are. They stand for human rights and equality, and this is made evident through their posts and bio. They offer diverse content with a lot of representation- people of color, disabled individuals, pregnant mothers, children, etc. They are really appealing to all audiences.


The rest of the social media platforms are used for bigger campaigns and answering questions/staying engaged with their consumers.


At first, I didn't want to highlight a big name brand in this blog post- but I think Nike is doing something really special through their social media. They are attempting to unite so many communities and have a sense of positivity on their platform. You don't get a sense that they are trying to sell you something through their posts, and that is something they should be proud of. They have built a voice strong enough to sell their products through genuine storytelling.


We should all take a page from Nike's book. They have a genuine social media presence and they aren't afraid of making political stances, and post content that really matters. Well done, Nike!
